Leaving the whole rig in France ?

Our first trip is now planned for departure the end of May. South of France and Tuscany. We have always planned to return at the end of July for about a 5 to 6 week period. School holidays, sort the garden out, peak period etc.. Setting off again mid September for about another 6 weeks. So i got to thinking. Why drive all the way back just to return again in 6 weeks.
So my plan would now be to find a site close to maybe Nice or Lyon Airport, or anywhere in the region for that matter, where I can get a flight back to Bristol, that would allow storage for the 6 week period. Also consider Austria, Baviara or Switzerland.

Anyone out there with a suggestion ?

Many Thanks

I guess from your post that you have a motorhome because if it's a van you will have a car hanging about too. There are sites that will store vans. We're using one at Florac (Camping Chon du Tarn) but just for a couple of weeks whilst we visit Corsica and it's a fair way from either of the places you mentioned. I just trawled a few websites and looked for 'garage mort', which means that they do storage. You could also google 'Pages Jaunes' and then put in 'Gardiennage de caravanes' and the area, and you should get some hits. Otherwise just find some sites in the area you're interested in and email them.
Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. Not a motorhome but car and van. I'll have a look around as you suggest.

Thanks again

Someone who posted on here regularly did a similar thing last year - and found a campsite which would store his caravan. However, finding space to store the car was more difficult, and in the end he used parking in the long-stay car park at the airport (which I think worked out at only around 40 euros for a month which is not extortionate). Perhaps this might be another possibility. Rather than flying back from a major airport such as Lyon, or Nice, where parking is at a premium, the smaller local airports, such as Vias/Beziers, Nimes, Toulon, Carcassonne and Rodez have disproportionately large car parks for the number of passengers. You can fly from Vias/Beziers directly to Bristol with Ryanair - and if you can book early may get a real bargain. There are many sites around there which will store your van, (it's an area with lots of campsites) but sorry, can't remember the names. However, searching out Gardiennage de Caravanes, Agde, brings up the following:

If you happen to be in my part of Germany you're welcome to drop the caravan off on the storage site where I keep mine (there's ample space available) and the car behind our house. If this is an option I can make some enquiries what the caravan storage would cost (I pay 140 Euros for a whole year so it would probably be pro rata).
ps: We live only 15 minutes drive from Frankfurt airport.
