LED Lighting

Whats everyones thoughts on LED lighting in caravans?

I have designed an LED replacement for capsule bulbs commonly used in caravans, and have them fitted in my Bailey Ranger, which I use as soft lighting in the evenings, and one as a night light for the kids.

I do have a website with info & pictures on, but I dont want to appear to be trying to sell on the forum.

Are other caravanners interested in this kind of thing? or am I just a gadget freak.

Paul.

Hi Paul,

Do these LED's fit into existing 12volt downlighters?

If so I may be interested in trying them out.

can you let me know website details, please?

Thanks,

Ron.

Good LED lighting if it cuts down on power drawn from the caravan battery would be valuable to many of us who do not always use EHU's.

Thanks for your replies.

The LED would fit into an MR16 type downlighter socket, but as its a single LED, it wouldn't give any near enough light. Its more for an auxillary lamp. The problem with LED's versus Filament bulbs is to get anything like comparable lumins of light out of LED's compared to a filament bulb, you need a lot of LED's, and you end up using as much or even more power than a bulb!

The website with info on is www.hughes-us.co.uk

Hi Paul

I have been trying to fit LEDs in my Baily Ranger, but the G4 units are giving trouble. There is only just enough room in the lamps for the capless bulbs. I have tried lots of LEDs but none fit. The posting on the contacts are to short, LEDs to big so you cannot get the cover back on etc. Had a look at your web site the resister looks as if it sits a bit high.

How much are these G4 LEDs your selling.

If you look on the Bailey web site under news archives 2007 they show a "rally light pack" with LED's. It looks a bit steep at nearly 90 quid. For that price I would buy a second battery.

Stephen,

The pictures shown are from my Bailey Ranger and the LED's fit the roof lights & wall lights.

Last time I had them for sale was on ebay for
