Any one else had problems trying to book an 8.0m pitch?
As many will know I changed our van a couple of months ago and it is a tad under 8.0m in length but when you mention this they suddenly dont have any pitches left
So today I booked a pitch for 4 nights next week, paid for it by card and to clarify I asked if it included 2 adults, dog and awning.
Yes sir they replied the pitch is 7.0m X 7.5m is that wide enough for your awning?
Thats wide enough, but not long enough, I have an 7.9.m van I reply.
We only take vans up to 7.0m in length
Your web site which I'm currently looking at clearly states 8.0m
I have a memo in front of me stating 7.0m
Why havent you changed the web info
Umm---- I will look into it
Please refund my fee and I will go somewhere else
Can I ring you back after I have spoken to the manager
You have 10 minutes
2 mins later. Thats fine sir you can have pitch number-----------we only impliment the 7.0m rule when we are busy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I'm sat here now thinking I should have cancelled anyway, what would you have done??????????????

Strange. My van's shipping length is 7.2 metres and I have never had a problem booking with either club. Some sites have shorter pitches and recently I was put off a pitch because i thought it too short. Someone else came with more brain and parked their van sideways on and it fitted nicely. With you is the problem that owners think you are not a holiday maker and you are quoting shipping length and they are talking about body length.

Ah thanks Waffler, there may lie the problem, yes I'm quoting shipping length will try body length next time. And hope the pitch is big enough when I get there!!!
But in my defence there web clearly stated 8.0m max.

I always quote the shipping length - 7.92m when I book a site, never had any problems!
The only thing I do ask when I book a CL or CS is, what the access is like - not easy turning from a narrow lane into a farm gateway.

The ones I seem to have problems with are the medium size private sites.
I recently joined the C+CC but have yet to use there CS sites but he finances
will soon dictate that
