Lengthening My Caravan Cables

Hi,

I've just bought a new car where the tow bar is removable and the twin sockets are hidden up under the rear bumper etc.

This all looks very neat but the position of the sockets is such that whilst the black caravan cable connects ok the grey is too short by about 30cms.

Does anyone have anyone have any advice/tips of the best way to extend this short distance? Is there a suitable connecter I could buy for this?

thanks

Thanks Rob and just so I'm clear the end of the lead that goes into the existing caravan lead will be like the 12v socket on the car etc?

Thanks

Indeed - the extension leads simply duplicate the car and caravan plug and sockets. So one end of the curly lead has a car socket and the other has a caravan plug - thereby extending the existing lead by 1 metre...

The only thing to be aware of is that the good old 12N+S plugs and sockets don't have the best reputation for reliable electrical contact (particularly the fridge and any other high current circuits) and now you'll have twice as many connectors... So keeping the contacts clean and in good condition will be more important than it was before...

Have a look under your caravan they normally have extra cable underneath somewhere, Just be changing the route of the cable you may gain 30cm. Thats the first thing to try.
