Levelling

Many, many years ago I bought two Lambilevels for levelling the van. Does anyone know if they are still available? Henry.

havent heard of them but as you are on where is the best place to level tried cooker lid and cupboards they all have differen levels

I'd say the critical place to be lever is the shower tray!

i've spent many happy minutes swooshing the water from the 'low-end' trowards the plug hole with my foot whilst showering!!

it's tricky to get it right, needs to be level in both plains

Henry - I have never failed to level our caravan to both a reasonable and satisfactory degree with just the use of a clear plastic bottle part filled with water/milk/squash or what ever is available. I place the bottle on the kitchen work surface making sure it is visible through the windows and off I go. The beauty is that when you have finished you can have a drink afterwards. Simple but effective.

They were just spirit levels that were stuck on the outside from what I remember

You can buy cheap plastic levels from market stalls

I have one on the front shelf across the van and one in line with the van for reference when winding the jockey wheel

I also place one across the van inside the door when levelling across the axle

I always allow a slight lean to the front and to the offside so that the shower will drain easily

Henry I reckon you have missed the Lambilevels by about 20 years!

They were made by a guy in Havant Hampshire if I recall correctly.

I used them 25 plus years ago and cant understand why they are no longer made by some some company.

Indeed I have made my own version of them, using glass tube filled with neat anti freeze.

For the new comers, they were a very large spirit level that mounted on the van front just below the window but importantly visible in your driving mirror. You then on site just crept along looking for where the ground undulations gave you a level pitch; dead simple. None of this in and out of the car to check the vans floor is level through is door.
