Lidl / Maplin / Comag SL65 Sat Problems

Hello, I have previously posted having bought a Lidl sat kit which is similar to many others being offered as it uses the same receiver box. The receiver works amazingly well considering it is so small and uses an equally small dish!

But I thought I would start a new thread regarding tuning and operation of these receivers as the little book supplied is a little short in its instructions.

My problem is is it possible to receive english radio transmissions with this kit and if so how?

If you set your dish to astra 19.2 the German stations carry loads of radio stations. But from "our" astra satellite it says no radio available can anyone clear the fog please?

Best wishes John

Hi John

I think and please bear in mind I have only tested it once - going to have a proper go at the weekend - if you do a rescan when it is tuned in to 28.2E, it picks up the english radio stations....... I know the music can be difficult to understand these days, but I'm sure these were english radio stations.......

Hi , had our Lidle one over a year now and my Sister also got one ,however she is not minded about tuning things,so have set hers up with all Astra 28 /19 plus all the radio stations. As hers is connected to the house tv it is ok, however ours as we travel a lot we find that retuning has to be done sometimes as foreign stations whilst abroad cut in.Now,when you set up as the book say's you will get the window/page " tv and radio" from there just scroll and pick what you want . From there you will see the dish to sattelite icons working and umpteen tv/radio stations come up,note what number you require and when back to Menue it say's again tv/radio ,just press radio and input the numbers you kept and when they come up, input favorits. Might sound difficult but keep at it as the more you play around on these things the more you learn.Just one thing more as you are using a pc it is no more difficult in finding things . Goodluck.

You do need to select "TV and Radio stations" on the search menu, it is also worth selecting FTA (free to air) otherwise you will end up with loads of scrambled TV channels.

I can see no other reason for not getting the radio stations as they are spread over the same transponders as the TV channels.

While on tips

I am a fairly experienced sat user (or so I thought)

Tip - when using a compass make sure you know which pointer points south.

I spent 30 minutes cursing trees and moving the satellite around the van the other day until I noticed another satellite pointing in the opposite direction .... DOH

It was a very cloudy day - my excuse anyway

We bought the Lidl sat and reciever. First time got nothing, second time we used it got a good signal/picture but a lot of foriegn channels.

The first time I left it in the case and the second time I put it on the caravan roof. I couldn't put it on the jockey wheel as we were right next to the toilet block.

Anyway we are going away in a couple of weeks and I read somewhere that the sat finder that comes with it, sets it up to astra 19.2, to get it onto 28.2 line it up between the R and the A (astra) on the sat finder and you will be some where near? I am going to try that idea, I will let you know if it works, I also bought an SLX sat finder from www.tracsat.co.uk, cheaper than Maplin, if the above fails I will try the SLX sat finder meter.

I will let you know how I get on, which method I used and I hope this helps a few more people out.
