Lighting help please!

I want to change my old strip light over - I thought it would be easy but looking at the new fittings I’m stumped !!??

Help please ❤️🥺

(The old one has a lose wire as that was red when I removed the strip xx )

Coming out of the ceiling will be a live and a neutral wire. Ideally the would be coloured coded. Your light will also have two wires. for many bulbs you can wire them any way round. But if the new light is LED then the poarity has to be correct. But if you get them the wrong way round it simply will not work, just swap them.

From the picture you have posted I am not clear whether its a 12V dc or 230ac light!

The colours of the wires do not conform to any of the UK standards or codes of practice if you are not confident about what you are doing, you should perhaps get a professional to safely complete the job.

The wires originally fed a strip light According to the OP.
A multi meter will soon determine the voltage assuming he can hook up to mains and a leisure battery.
I think he still has the light fitting. Is the answer there😉.

As far as I can ascertain the OP has taken on a large restoration project. As we have all experienced by necessity most of the time , oem parts are not available . Thus different fixings require a bit of fettling. In this case can the OP send a clear photo of the original with its wires and terminals, then one of the new fitting.
