hello, can anyone help! My caravan lighting works off the 12v

leisure battery. I have 2 small spot lihgts and 2 fluresant strip lights. The spots work but the fluresant do not. I have read in the hayenes manuel that you need to have a boost to 130v

to make the fluresants work. Could someone please explain in lamens talk what it means.Yes this is our first caravan. The power is reaching the fittings but I dont think strong enough.

Please advise.....john

Hi John.

It's quite possible that both tubes are U/S. If you ONLY have 12v lighting, then they should work. Most small 12v fluorescent strips made for caravans will have a small circuit board in them enabling them to run from a 12v battery without any problem.

If on the other hand, you have 12v lighting AND an electric hook-up, then the fluorescent tubes may be wired into the mains (hook-up) circuit. In that case you simply need to plug your hook-up cable in.

My guess is that your tubes are defective. Any electrical shop will probably test them free for you and replace them as required.
