Have you got room in your car Tina? I always carry the awning and poles in the boot. This is also easier when you arrive on site if it's wet or windy. You can get inside the caravan without any problems. The awning can wait then until the weather improves.

I'd suggest that you contact an Isabella dealer to find the price. There are several ads in most caravan magazines.

We don't actually carry any personal items at all in the car. Its all in the caravan. Clothes hung in the wardrobe and light stuff in the lockers. Heavy towels are usually carried on the floor. Dirty clothes are put in a pillow case each day which then gets carried on the floor or in the car to come home.

We have 2 kids so know the problem. You may have less weight allowance to play with though. Being outdoor type people we usually take lightweight clothing anyway. Lightweight trousers with unzippable legs save taking a pair of trousers and a pair of shorts for example. Interactive breathable waterproof jackets with a zipped in fleece can cover most weather conditions where a jacket is required. I don't even own a pair of jeans, far to heavy, especialy when wet. We have managed to get down to a top locker each and just the wardrobe.

But that's getting away from your question. Sorry, got a bit side tracked there. I hope you can find some alloys, they really do make a difference weight wise.

A slight note of caution here: Check your cars handbook for any limit on the weight of luggage. Don't forget that the noseweight of the van counts as part of the allowance,as it contributes to the load on the cars suspension. My awning with glassfibre poles is about 40Kg and with noseweights around the 50-60kg mark, I doubt you'll have much left...

Fair point Chris. Fortunately my Terrano has a payload of 740kg, so no problems, even with 4 of us on board.
