Has anyone been to Littlehampton CC site since the CC took over the site. What is it like? What is the area like? Are there any nice walks in the area? Thanks.

We went here last year within a week or two of it opening. At that time the vans were parked around the perimeter of the site as the central area was taped off as i don't think the grass was quite ready.

Toilets etc. were up to usual Club standard, the childrens play area is by the toilets and sort of in the middle of the site which is great for those who want to keep an eye on the children but the downside is that the noise permeates around and they were playing quite late at night. There is another small area aside which was full up but in any event is near to the entrance and exit and also near to the train track. The site itself backs on to another private static site.

Near to the site is a wonderful pub, out of site, turn right, down hill on right. The meal we had there was exceptional. If you went out of the site and turned left there is another pub called The Locomotive but we never went in there. A bit further along there are a few small shops (may have been a Co-Op?).

There is a beach of sorts at Littlehampton, Arundel Castle and area is quaint, there is lots to see and do within a 20 mile radius I would say. As for walks I am unable to pass comment.

For us, we'd consider going for a weekend but no longer due to the noise of the children, and when we went half the pitches were closed. If you have children then it may be just the place you are looking for.

Hi Julian

We were at Littlehampton at Easter, as Timbo said the play area next to the toilet block does tend to create a lot of noise from 7am until 10pm. There is also quite a bit of road noise and railway noise. The site is nicely laid out and the pitches of a good size. The pub out of the site and turn right is superb, excellent hosts but a little pricey, the pub to the left much cheaper but not so much atmosphere. Half a mile down the road towards the town sits a row of shops, takeaways etc. Littlehampton itself feels very tired now, most of the shops in the High Street are empty, the beach is okay. Bognor Regis 5-6 miles away and Worthing again 5-6miles away offer much better in terms of retail therapy. For ultimate retail therapy and beaches together with easy travel take the 700 coastliner bus to Brighton, well worth the day trip.

Enjoy.

Ian
