London Area Sites October Half Term

Hi All

Just wondered if anyone could give us any advice on convenient sites for London. We want to visit our foster son who lives in Ealing so anything on the West side would probably be ok. We are looking at the CC site and Henley and the C&CC site at Chertsey. How convenient are these to get into London and has anyone any other suggestions.

Thanks

We have just returned from a week at a site in Hurley with our two dogs - see http://www.higgsgroup.co.uk/hurley/

I really liked the site - a 20 minute walk alongside the river Thames takes you into the village of Hurley which has several pubs. Marlow (1 1/2 hrs) and Henley (2 1/2 hrs) can also be reached via the riverside walk if you like a nice meander. There is no specific play area for children but plenty of open spaces both within the site and on the riverbank picnic area. The pitches are nicely spaced and fully serviced pitches are available too.

Windsor is just a 20 minute drive away.

We stopped at chertsey, at easter, we were impressed, the staff bent over backwards to help you, toilet and showers very clean. The only draw back was you are on the flight path for heathrow, so you had planes landing at 11pm or a bit later, hope this is some help to you

forgot to say we never went into london but think it was 1/2 an hour away by train, the station about less than 1/2 an hour walk away.

Caroline, There are regular trains from Chertsey station to Waterloo. The station is approx 15 minutes walk from the site. I have stayed there either early or late season for last 5 years or so and always found it well run and stewards (Holiday site managers!) very helpful.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I have now booked Chertsey for 6 nights during 1/2 term in October. we are looking at the Lion King and/or Billy Elliot for shows to go to. Our 16 year old daughter will be beside herself when we tell her its all booked!!
