Hello! We are in a position to be able to plan a long trip around Europe - probaly 12 - 18 months; it is very exciting! We are not new to traveling, but are new to caravaning with two dogs! We would appreciate any tips on travelling with dogs in Europe - mostly Western Europe, but also Slovenia and Croatia. Both our dogs have a PET Passport, and we take care with the heat and length of time in the car. I guess the areas I have most questions about are to do with border crossings, Pet health, Prevention of diseases and Insurance. Any advice on Car and Caravan Insurance for this length of trip would also be appreceiated.
Many Thanks!

Sounds like a lovely trip. We have friends with a Westie and they do not have any problems with her in Europe we have travelled with them over 7 borders one holiday and no problems with the border crossing, they do not even look at you or the dogs and no passports have every been shown either. Of course you do have to visit the Vet at you port of return within 24 hours I believe.
The Caravan Club, if you belong to it will give you all advice on Dogs and for insurance for car and caravan abroad.
I would join ACSI Camping Card for the months you are there out of season as the reductions are very good. You will get car, caravan 2 adults for 11,13 or 15 euro's depending on site and 1 dog goes free. If you go to my website you will see all the countries we have visited and no. 5 was when we did the most countries with the dog including 3 eastern Europe Countries.

If you want excellent very reasonable Breakdown cover for car and van including all of Europe and beyond inc. UK look at the German Club ADAC again details on my website. Do not be afraid to ask me any other questions you have, will be glad to help.
