Hi all
I started to search for my question but there are hundreds to look through...
this has to be quicker!!!
Caravan Club and camping cheques
How much do they charge for cheques can't find a price on there site anywhere?
They just put up package prices which is more money than me doing ferry separate and just buying cheques!!!

Anyone know the answer, I will ring the club and ask why the price is higher doing both together but I want to know how much cheques are first?

thanks

I presume you've tried the Camping Cheque link?
http://www.order.campingcheque.co.uk/
If you just click 'No' against a ferry quote you should get a price for just the cheques instead of a complete package.
Each cheque costs £13.95 and then there's a booking fee of £6.50. The way I understand the information on the Caravan Club website there is no booking charge if you purchase a package.

Presumably if you purchase a package then the ferry booking also goes through Camping Cheques instead of the Caravan Club's regular channels. The Caravan Club is probably able to offer better rates for ferry crossings if you book directly through them without going through Camping Cheques.

The prices for camping cheques are £13.95 and they are the same cheques which are provided by the Caravan Club. When booking through the club you will get a better price for the ferry if you book either at least 7 cheques or 7 nights sites. This is called their ITX fare. It is all booked through the Club as is the ferry. If you just ring them for a ferry price you will notice that when you ask for a combined price, after taking off the cost of the cheques, the ferry will be cheaper.

You can also book through camping cheques and with them you will have 3 cheques in with the price.

Either way (Club or Camping Cheques) the ferry comes out relatively the same price although I noticed that the Club worked out to about £10.00 cheaper.

p.s. The Club will probably not be able to offer this cheaper combined price on the shorter ferry routes i.e. Dover/Calais.

If you are going Brittany then check out the cheaper sailing times where caravans go free.

No, it doesn't work like that. The ferry element is booked directly through the Caravan Club, with the ferry operator and not via Camping Cheques. If you book a 'ferry-inclusive package' - either including some Camping Cheques, or including campsite pitches booked through the Caravan Club, then as Lesley says, it qualifies as an ITX fare (independent tour excursion - which has to include a travel element and an accommodation element). Usually an ITX fare is cheaper than buying each element separately, especially if you book early. Each Camping Cheque costs £13.95 - and with the Caravan Club you have to buy a minimum of seven to qualify for the ITX fare. You can buy extra Camping Cheques through the Caravan Club once you've got a ferry booking through them.
What costings have you got? I just tried and got the following for dates 20th May outwards and 13th June return, 12.00 noon sailings.
ITX with 7 Camping Cheques worth £97.65 Ferry inclusive package, including the above £221.65 (-£97.65 for the Camping Cheques) - making the ferry £124.00 return for car and caravan.
Booking through Camping Cheques themselves, the same package is £241.65 - so you're saving £20.00 going through the Caravan Club.
Costing the same ferry crossings directly with Norfolk Lines, the cost for just the ferry is £129.00.

Ok, my ferry price was £111.56 P&O thro' CC
10 Camping cheques £139.50 booked both at the same time...

Ferry on its own £111.56.. they don't discount at all on the ITX system, if they do I'm asking why.

I can't find where their complaints procedure is on their website....
How long have you had to wait to have your call answered??

Twice I went thro' the reception and waited over 20mins before hanging up.

In the end I rang their 0800 number and they answered straight away.so had a moan about that. this 0800 is only for people wanting to join the club but I didn't care.

* Why didn't the reception say you'll have to sit and wait until your phone gives up???
and ringing the 01342 does not put you through to the club aaaaaaaaagh.

One of the problems booking through the Caravan Club (on the phone) is that they're not 'Open All Hours'. To be honest, though, I've never had to wait long when I've phoned them, but that's usually during 'office hours' (between 9.00 and 4.00, generally, Monday to Friday). The ITX discounts aren't 'guaranteed' and as I said, often the best discounts apply if you book early (like September/October last year for May/June this year) - when they were offering return crossings for as little as £54 return.
A problem booking through the Caravan Club can be that if you have problems with your crossing, and can't get to the port, then you have to be able to ring the Caravan Club to make any amendments, and you can't do this at weekends, usually.
You're always free to book it elsewhere, though. A P and O crossing may well cost you more than the Caravan Club are quoting if you book it yourself directly with P and O. If you haven't already booked, then I'd been inclined to look elsewhere.
