Lots of vans on A14

Came back from Diss on Monday morning and saw lots of what looked like our travelling cousins in big vans towed by commercial vehicles heading towards Norwich.Are they heading for fruitpicking or a wedding?just interested as madam co-pilot remarked and lost count over 20,ran out of claws.

None of them taxed or insured I bet.

They were all Irish travellers going on holiday to Great Yarmouth and then on to a wedding in North Norfolk.

47 caravans were parked on the Great Yarmouth beach coach station site; council served a legal notice for them to leave by 11am on Tuesday; 20 plus vans still remained on Tuesday evening so council then extended the notice to Saturday 16th. It is thought that the wedding will be at the RC Chapel in Walsingham.

I seem to remember a similar Irish vacation last year when the police got involved and there was a bit of a punch up. It cost the tax payers of Yarmouth a quite a few thousand pounds to clear up the mess left behind.

So, softly, softly approach this year, musn't upset 'em to much!!!!

Some years ago a car load of them was involved in an accident with a couple killed and a couple seriously injured. The tinkers decended on the town from all over the place, even Belgium.

They took over the bus station because it was next door to the hospital and the hospital toilets were locked up because of the health hazard they use to leave them in. Whether there was an order made for them to leave the bus station I don't know but they never left until the kids were buried and the others were out of hospital. I don't think I need to describe the mess in the bus station.
