Hi,
I have a new Hymer and I presently own one 6kg propane cylinder. I was thinking about buying a second one as a backup (after I ran out), but I keep hearing about refillable LPG bottles.
If I have one of each will my appliances (Dometic fridge and Truma Combi 6 heating, and gas hob and barbecue) all work ok if I switch from one to the other?
It seems a good option if it is possible?
Any advice welcome.
Thanks,
Nick

When we bought our current van we went that way - had one Alugas cylinder fitted and kept a Calor one as backup. We subsequently had a second Alugas cylinder fitted.

Hi Nick Butane will give a slightly higher heat output, but will not "gas" at low temperature. So if you intend to do any winter touring Propane is definitely the way to go. Having said that Autogas (for filling fixed tank or refillable cylinders) is a mixture of Butane & Propane The % of each gas can vary between different countries. i.e. Spain has a higher % of Butane to the UK.
