LR Freelander 2wd

Anyone got experience of one of these? on Swimbo's list for replacing the focus. She'd still be using the 4x4 for work in the winter and it looks much more economical! Before anyone starts suggestign jap alternatives she won't consider them at all, saying things like I am NOT having a datsun!!!! Obviously she's not anti indian cars in the same way!!

Why buy a fwd car that looks like a SUV, why not just buy a fwd car - after all the fwd Freelander is the same as a fwd Focus underneath, literally !

because we like it?????? perhaps that's not allowed And why do people buy the 'vans they do when often there are better or cheaper or more expensive alternatives! Now shall we stick to answers to the question please rather than getting into a debate!

Of course it's allowed - but as you did ask for advice on choice of vehicle you must accept that you can't restrict responses to those who agree with your choice - there wouldn't be any point asking for advice in that case.
Advice is given freely and honestly - you must decide which advice to accept and which to ignore.
If your wife would like a 2wd Freelander then buy it.

My wife has a Ford Kuga and she love's it. TBH it is great fun to drive and throw through the corners. If your wife likes her Focus then the Kuga might be the way forward for her.

The FL2 fwd option drives very nicely but has all of the other attributes of the 4wd option except its off-road capability. Saying that Land Rover Owner Monthly did an off road test of the 2wd version and it was far better than one would have imagined due to its ground clearance and tyres. The test was about 3-4 issues back. However what I would find difficult is being stuck in snow in a Land Rover! So winter tyres must be a consideration!!!

And if your wife wants one....buy it.

She's not that keen on the focus and doesn't like the look of the kuga.
As far as getting stuck in the snow goes swimbo will take the 110 for work(haha if it ever arrives!!) if it's snowy and I'll be left digging out the other car on the school run!!!!!
