hi all
wonder if anyone can help, the other day whilst a routine check my son in law slid back the bed slats where the electrical unit is and all the 240v went off...it didn't trip anything, weve tried turning off all the trip switches and reseting...weve checked all the plugs in the bottom of the unit...weve check the mains lead from the house and power is getting to the van but 240v power absolutely dead...all 12v systems working fine. cant get into box...all riveted....cant find any fuses or extra trips anywhere else which may relate to 240v....any ideas please?

Hello Garry

Unless someone has experienced exactly the same problem, its always difficult to accurately diagnose this sort of fault remotely. Great care needs to be used when testing 230V systems, and should only be carried out by a technically competent person.

I suggest you double check the caravans RCD in the caravans consumer unit, as it reads as though this may have tripped. It may simply need resetting, but if it continually trips or it wont reset or the test button does not work then the fault needs more thorough investigation.

hi Garry.
as the Prof said it is difficult to remotely diagnose a fault, and any number of problems could give the symptoms you describe however one thing is for sure if it worked before and now doesn't something has gone wrong.
this sounds stupidly obvious but, is sometimes overlooked,
moving the bed slats should not stop the mains working so it sounds very much like a loose connection somewhere.
check all these under the bunk.
I have found with electrical faults the only way to find a fault is systematically start at the house and work forwards I know you have done this but do it again house plug. cable. van connection.
is power coming out of the ehu to mains unit. check all the wiring to the first socket is it getting power !!!
if it is not work backwards from there.
afraid there is no easy answer just a process of elimination till you find the fault.
at some point you will find where the power fails this will be the problem but it could be anything from a loose wire to a blown componant .
