A friend of mine has just taken delivery of a Lunar Quasar from a dealership very close to the Lunar factory. On his return to the Midlands he was flashed and eventually made to stop on the M6 it sems all the side lockers were open and the new mains lead lost somwhere on the motorway. It appears that when you lock the doors the key cannot be removed unless you turn it back a bit this however means they are not locked properly and fall open.

Has anyone else had the same problem and if so how has it been corected.I understand the dealer said it was a problem with Lunars.

Sounds like a design fault - on my '01 Pageant, the key can't be removed UNLESS the battery compartment is locked - although it can be removed locked or unlocked on the gas, toilet and entrance doors

Hi

I have a Lunar Solaris and it is fitted with the locks you describe. I have to lock the locker and then turn the key back quarter of a turn to remove it. I have had no problems with the locker flying open but the locker door should not open even if it was not locked. The only time I have had a problem was on my previous Quasar which was fitted with a different lock. The locker opened while towing but this happened because the locker was not closed properly. By the way my daughter has the same locks on her Bailey Ranger and again the doors have not sprung open. I always give external locker doors a little push to ensure the catch is engaged before towing.

I have a Lunar Quasar (2005 model) and don't have a problem with the locks, but as Sandy says I always ensure the catch has engaged when shutting the relevant door.

One point I would like to suggest is that the internal spring on the lock could be siezed, this would stop the catch from moving when shutting,

best regards, Martin

This is a brand new van and as I understand it they lock with a 'tongue ' that turns with the key but you then cant remove the key unless you partly turn it back a bit which it seems is enough to cause them to come open.
