I bought the above caravan 18 months ago, it had this alarm fitted but it did not function at all. I contacted Bailey and they informed me that there is a rechargeable battery in the control box, for which you need a dedicated charger. I asked if they were available, the reply was yes, the cost around £135 !! The cost is discouraging, but, if I bought the unit would the battery charge up having been dormant for 18 months. Does anyone know of a cheaper way to re activate the alarm ??

The battery is available from toolstation (I think that's where I got mine). Its designed so that the alarm runs from the leisure battery when the alarm battery is flat, but I guess if the battery is defective it might cause a problem doing that.

Mine is labelled a Yuasa/Enersys NP1.2-12FR. 12v, 1.2Ah.

You could always run the battery wires to outside the box, and have two of the batteries - you can charge up the spare one using a tricke charger with a nice low setting (or a CTEK xs800).

A charged battery is supposed to last 6-8 months.

Just realised that my alarm is a different model to yours. But ... the same principles will apply - get it open and see what the battery is - it's almost certainly a 12v lead acid. If its relatively easy to take the battery out then you can run with two batteries and a simple charger as I've suggested.
