The M42 between Jct 3A (M40) and Jct 7 (M6) have got the variable speed limits matrix signs. These are now on line and enforceable.

There are a variety of cameras in use including CCTV for general monertoring, ANPR (automatic number plate recognition cameras) which, depending on how they are used can give details to the police on whether your car is currently taxed and if the driver has outstanding warrants etc (a good thing). They will also be used for monitoring traffic flow and movement on the motorway and it's junctions.

Oh and they will also have the wonderful speed cameras! These are digital to give superb picture quality and will be used at all times (so I beleive) So if you exceed the variable speed limit, beware the post man!!
