major electrical probs please help

first post so please bear with me, relatively new to caravanning, having problems getting the battery to hold charge, replaced the battery same issues wont charge above 11.5, as soon as lights on etc drops to 7, could this be the power supply? lights not getting brighter when connected to 240v when we disconnect the battey nothing seems to work fridge, water heater, heater, if you guys think it may be the psu where is the best place to buy a replacement, the van is an abbey 540 vogue bought may 2008 thanks in advance

Firstly I would find out if the battery is not holding the charge or the battery is not being charged.

Place a multimeter on the battery terminals when the caravan is on mains hookup and see if the voltage increases, that's the first thing to do.

When the van is on mains hookup all the 12 volt lights etc should work fine, is this happening?

thanks chris brand new battery, voltage showing 12.5 when first connected, leave 12 volt accesories switched on for half an hour battery then drops to 11.9 then connected 240 switched 240 lights on and sockets and switched on battery charger, 12 volt lights still dim, battery not reclimbing to 12.5

Hi Gareth

It seems as if your battery is not being charged.

Some caravans built by Swift were fitted with faulty battery chargers which should be replaced under warranty. Contact the dealership who sold the caravan to you.

thanks for the replys just an update really, telephoned swift today and a new psu is being sent out tommorow appreciate all of your help

Hi Gareth

I am in the same situation as yourself, new to caravanning and the same problem. I have an ACE Jubilee, does anyone know if they suffer with the same problems. I belive ACE were or are owned by Swift.
