Hello Paul.

I stop at the first services on the m5 (frankley)

We travel from Wigan and this is or first stop. We travel through the night so there is usually plenty of room to park.

Maureen posted a list of services and gave a review of the parking facilities. If you can find it.

Hi Paul

we travel from Wirral to North Devon, and use Stafford (separate caravan parking with pull-throughs); also use Asda (Wal*Mart) at J17, M5 (Cribbs Causeway - shopping mall inc John Lewis, M&S - if some retail therapy is needed) where fuel is much cheaper than any services. Northbound, Strensham services also have separate caravan parking with pull-throughs. We sometimes use Frankley, but you end up parking with the trucks which can be a bit haphazard.

Lovely part of the world - enjoy !

We live in Bristol and Manchester is perhaps one hour further away in tome then Woolacombe so if you want to stop appx 1/2 way Michael Wood would probably be a good bet.

Walmart (Asda) is off to the left at M5 J17 (you will see it next to motorway) and is probably a good bet for parking, food etc but this can be a busy traffic area on a weekend.

Frankly is probably one of the worst service area's in the country, it stinks of urine where the truckers are too lazy to go to the loo's and you are parked right in the middle of the trucks and most of the drivers seem to take great pleasure in intimidating you.

Of course this intimidation is continued on most service area's but in our experiance michael wood is one of the best on the M5 and definately the worth the extra few miles, or like others have said use the asda superstore, its cleaner cheaper and a lot friendlier than any service area.

Have a good trip.

On a recent journey to Corwall we stopped at Sedgemoor Services(J22), the designated caravan parking area is very poorly maintained.

The parking area is separate to cars and HGV's, it is unpaved, a rough piece of ground full of pot holes.

Whilst we were there, we observed a caravan pull on who drove through what he probably thought was a little surface water puddle, but turned out to be quite a deep water filled pot hole. The result, the front of his van smashed into the ground as his back wheel sunk into the hole.

I will avoid this one in the future.

Hi

From experience we would say be wary of Sedgemoor services. We aimed to stop while travelling from Yorkshire to Dorset, Spring Bank holiday last year. We towed on and towed straight off it was raining, lots of potholes full of water, very uneven ground.

A separate area for caravans deserves, in our books to be supported, but on this occassion we decided not to support the facility.
