Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of the Purpleline Hitchdrive manual caravan mover?

I'm after something that will help me put my van back on the hardstanding next to our garage - possibly single handedly - without too much swearing!!

The Hitchdrive looks ideal, and not a bad price - I'm loathe to spend £600 on an automatic one for a van worth less than £2k!

Look forward to your replies,

S

I had one (briefly), purchased 2nd hand off ebay. It didn't work for me as it struggled for grip getting the wheels to go up a slight kerb to cross the pavement onto my drive (no way to drive/reverse on using the car). It also struggled to grip on a gravel drive, so for me was pretty useless. My Dad now uses it on a similar caravan (1300kg) to manoeuvre it (single handed) round a fairly level tarmac drive and it works well for him, giving him full control without much effort, so it depends on you application. I think on smooth level surface they work quite well, but anything involving a slope or kerb or gravel, forget it.

You can save a bit of money by looking on ebay for a 2nd hand example. If it doesn't work out for you, put it back on ebay and you will probably be able to recoup you money.

FWIW

If you need to manoeuvre on fairly level smooth ground then they do work and make it much easier to manoeuvre a van around. After all, that is all Enduro really claim they can do.

Hi S

I have used a Manual purpleline mover.

Very good on flate tarmace. But if caravan goes down even a small hole in road service you do get problems with traction.

Also on reversing because you stand in the middle of the van to wind handle and for direction you do need someone to help as lookout. They are very good for getting a van close to a wall. (Little bit at a time). Cost nothing to run. You can pick a new one up very cheap go for a unit with tractor wheels.

Hope this is of some help.

Steve
