manufacturers going bust?

I have a 2 year old luner chateau can i get spares not, why cant they be made to make parts after they go under like cars?

I need awning end rails its pants

As the caravan manufacturers do not make any parts themselves, they just buy in parts and assemble the van, if one of the supplying manufacturers goes bust, the supply ceases.

If the manufacturer has gone bust, how can they be made to make 10 years worth of spares with a factory which is now out of their control?

Cars however are a slightly different situation as most cars use common parts and there are several after market suppliers, unlike the caravan industry.

The Explorer Group seem to be going from strength to strength. They are bringing out an all electric(no gas)Xplore van and a new range of Buccaneers at the NEC.This is on top of the revamped Compass vans launched this year.

My suggestion if all else fails is to ake a trip either to Holland or Belgium and chat up dealers there. The Chateau range was part of the Tirus Group who also made Beyerland, Kip Hobbycar and Cristall vans. Many parts are common between ranges and you may find the part you need that way.

Mark,

If it's any consolation, I own a Lunar Clubman (purchased in March). I have been waiting for new track for the sliding washroom door (the existing track is just too short).

They were ordered from Lunar, by my dealer in June........I'm still waiting, possibly because it is warranty work.

My dealer phones up each week and is told they will be sent but they never turn up.

I ordered a new Lunar brochur last week - it arrived in 48hours.

I get the impression they would rather deal with potential cutomers than existing ones.

Hi Ron, suggest that you write a polite letter to the MD of lunar enclosing your CRIS number, explaning your position and that your dealer has been fogged of in a number of occasions with false delivery dates , and when can he promise the delivery of the parts to the dealer that you are waiting for.

Oracle,

Well said I'm in sales and some orders will be left in the buyers tray until the value is over the min order value. The

manufacturer will get the blame from his customer for late

delivery.

It seems to me that it is sales and figures that matter the most not the customer, remember its our custom that keeps you going instead of brusing us under the table.mark

the reason why i gave the above senario is because a lot of dealers simply dont understand the concept of aftersales and seriously underfund and underman that part of a business and treat it as a dirty word. for them its sales, sales and sales.

other dealers aftersales are simply useless and crap at sorting out customers problems, and a simple answer for them not doing their job right in the first place, is to blame someone else. they quickly get caught out when a customer actually decides to contact the manufacturer direct and ask if the dealer has done what they are claiming.

if anyone is in any doubt as to whether their dealer is telling the truth, i suggest contacting the manufacturer.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the replies.

I tend to agree with Mark's comments about figures. I have been in the room with the dealer on 4 occasions when he has 'phoned Lunar.

Each time he stated he had been assured the parts would be delivered next week.

It reminds me of the situation where the person you phone says, "Do you know who you're talking to"?

"No" you reply,

"Well, piss off then!" as they hang up

Cheers, Ron.
