Anyone else had problems with these blowing over?

Mine is a 66cm dish and a gust of wind at Pembrey blew it over onto the lnb, cracking the lnb at its base.

Replacement cost of lnb is over £40.00.The supplied three bent wire pegs seem totally inadequate to me to prevent movement of the tripod, totally unfit for the purpose.

Everthing else works fine.

Any comments or solutions (and no I will not go without satellite tv,not because I am a tv junky, but because of the super signal and picture quality I get wherever I go.

hello there, we are full time caravanners and have had ours up for just over a year now , it has never blown over yet and we have had plenty of high winds around here, it has blown out of line a few times but we cured this by putting a windbreak up around it, no problems since. know what you mean about the pegs though ,the could do with being a bit more substantial...Mark

Hi. I have a Tripod but not a Maxview. I experienced a couple of occasions when it blew over so now fix 3 guy ropes on it if it is windy. never had a problem since.

I also have had a tripod blow over and subsequently guyed is as above

If it blew a lorry over on the A1 last week its not surprising (with hindsight) that it blew the dish over

Maxview advise putting the on roof dishes down in high winds

We did have to guy the Semitronic in France last year when there were gales blowing when Coronation Street was on (joke)

Hi Frank

We have the same piece of kit.

As a matter of course I use the 3 little pegs in the holes and then use six 8 inch screw pegs, two on each leg crossed over. I then add a further screw peg in the middle and lash it down with the strong elasticated guy line. Never had a blow over even in a storm at Ullapool .

Cheers

Frank,

I had exactly the same problem!

Just use epoxy resin to repair the LNB & use 3 guy ropes attached to the tripod to give you extra support, sorted!

I have one of these dishes and tripods also, after it blowing over at Trewethet farm I use two large pegs hammered into the ground and one large Bungee elastic stretched from peg to peg over the top of the tripod , never had any problem with the dish moving using this method no matter what the weather brings .

Seems the common ground (sic) is that we all use additional anchorages to secure the tripod .

Shame Maxview didn't think of that in the first place. That said we are very happy with our system.

Cheers

My tripod is not a Maxview but it came with a screw in fitting thats screws into the ground and ten fixes with a bungee strap to the tripod centre underneath

It a bit like dog tethers but not as big

The screw in dog tethers would be ideal for the Maxview

We put a hard ground peg either side of each leg clip an awning ladder between them then kock them in. I walked into once and it never moved.

Colin.
