Mercedes 190 2.0 petrol - can't find the towing specs anybody...

Hi,

I've currently got a merc 190. Just wondering if anybody can tell me the max weight that can be pulled? I'd like to get a van for touring long term abroad (2 adults 1 kid) ideally with a fixed rear bed. I am thinking the merc might not be up to towing a larger sized van. Can anybody advise me where to look, or advise on a suitable model of van (around 5k ish ). I can change the car if needed but would rather not as its A1 condition. Any advice appreciated as I have no knowledge of caravans/towing ex VW van owner!

Are you referring to the W201 series of 190 built between 1982 and 1993? If so, is it the original 190 or a 190E or even a 190E 2.5-16? The original 190 had a maximum permissible towload of 1200kg, the other two could tow up to 1500kg.

Or are you talking about the A190 built between 2001 and 2004? In that case 1000kg is the maximum towlaod.
