What are your thoughts and experiance's of these types of windbreaks?
Looking at the ones which seem to only have a 2" (50mm) spike that goes in the ground which in my mind doesnt seem to be deep enough into the ground although some of them come with guy ropes as well so does this give them more stability in higher winds?
Your thoughts would be welcome

Hi Kev,
I have 4 of these windbreaks and they are useless.
Getting them up needs two people and the guy lines are a PITA.
Worst things I have ever bought, apart from the Renault, but they may end up in the same crusher.

PS: The spikes,,,,,lost most of them in the ground in several sites, they are not fixed to the poles, just push into the plastic bungs.

PPS, I have replaced your lost D

Thanks Damien, been thinking about them for a while now just because they look better than the standard stripey beachy ones.
Is it possible to replace the metal pole with the standard wooden ones do you know?
Cheers
And thanks for the D

I agree with Sproket as we use one of the enclosures he shows to keep our 4 small dogs in when we are away.. We are showing at Crufts next week and staying at Chapel Lane where most of the people on site will be going to Crufts and most have the enclosures.
In the mornings we can let the dogs into "the garden" without worrying that they are going walkabout and we can stay in the warmth of the caravan if the weather is nasty
Mind you they are not cheap and I think start at about £300 for a small unit but they can be added to. We paid about £500 for ours but it is worth every penny. It can be configured into various shapes to suit the pitch.
Our has stood up to gales and snow without any problems, far better than the flimsy wind breaks

We have had Isabella's Acryl windscreen for ten years, it has been excellent and remains looking virtually as new.
It uses replaceable steel posts about 9" long that you drive into the ground and onto which the main steel uprights fit. The top edge also has steel horizontal poles making it a rigid structure.[It uses guys on the back side]
Fortunately for us we got ours at a closing down sale so paid only a fraction of its retail cost which is very expensive. However now having had this for so long and so pleased with it we would if we needed to replace it pay the retail cost as this quality will never normally be cheap.

Mine are the zinc coated [electro galvanised] steel ones, their 'zinox'. They are about 3/4" diameter; I was not aware they did the carbon fibre ones for the windbreaks. The steel ones though heavy have done a good job and not corroded yet.

This will be still standing when the awning has blown down......
What we normaly do is lift the awning on the last evening & then on the last morning on site pack the windbreak up.

Sprocket is yours the Jormax one as I like the idea of the metal stays as opposed to guy ropes?
Click on this one then scroll down the page to see the configurations......
Ours is the 16.5mtr one

but it breaks down to 2 x 15' long & 2 x 10' long the 15' one can be made into a 10' x 5' L shape

Looks like we'll be sticking to small dowgs and our current system of two puppy crates joined together in some sort of mishapen garden affair held up by some garden poles tied on with cable ties, with a clamp thingy holding in place to the awning and a stripy plastic windbreak for the cadac.

Jealous, NO!!!! just watch out for the beast in the night!!
