I work for milenco so I know all about this although you may find my opinion biased. For years on mainland europe many manufacturers have made cooling fans for fridges especially in warm places like Italy. Without them many fridges will not work effectivly on hot days. The Vento is regarded by experts as the best unit and it has won countless tests in Germany. Knowing this is the best unit of its type we import it in to the UK. It will save gas and enable the caravan fridge to run cooler on very hot days.

Yes it will work with any type of fridge, but you can make a kit your self for a lot less cash. There is a good set of instructions on one web site, but can't remeber which. Suggest you do a search on some other caravan web sites.

Thanks for your help, but if you had seen my DIY you would see why I liked the idear of this peace of kit. I have hands with 6 fingers and they are both on the left. great for calfing down cows, etc but not good for DIY.

From what I have seen of the Milenco Vento kit, it does not appear to save much in the way DIY skills. It just seems like all the same type of parts, but all in the one box, cutting out the work of collecting the required parts and relevant instructions. But as they say it's your money and your choice. Good luck with which ever method you choose.

David,

I've noticed over the last few summers that our fridge did not cope too well with the high temperatures encountered in France and Spain. I've also noticed several times on this and other forums suggestions and guidance on how to overcome this by fitting small fans normally used in computers etc behind one or both of the fridge vents.

Similar to you I have never felt my d.i.y. skills up to the job of tampering with the van's electrics. Apparently this type of system does make a noticeable difference. I hadn't seen the advert you referred to but have now checked it out on the Milenco website.

Hi, call in at your local computer shop and purchase a couple of pc cooling fans (5 or 7" I think) and then you will need a reich thermo-cooler part number 233-1068 at

Give fan fitment some thought. A fan sucking in air and the second extracting it can work better. It the caravan fridge vents into a sealed hot Awning during the day the fans and fridge can work overtime circulating hot air from within the awning.

Sucking in air from under the van if you can gain access to a floor vent works better than just extracting hot air or fitting a fan that sucks from a hot closed up awning via lower vent and extracting through the higher one.
