milton to clean water system

this is a very stupid question i think?

but im looking to clean through my water system with milton - but how do i go abou this?

would i just use the normal water hog and put milton in there and allow the water to be pumped in with my water pump - or do you suggest another way of cleaning the pipes out with the diluted milton solution?

any advice would be appreciated

Carl

Mix the Milton as per instructions in you water hog / aqua roll

leave for a while to sterilise the container then pump thro the van so it's coming thru the hot & cold water pipes & leave for a couple of hours.. then flush thro with another barrel of clean water

Done !

I do mine at the beginning of the season`s vanning as Sproket say`s, mix up the solution as Milton states in my Aquaroll and pump through all pipes and taps ,leave for two hours, drain and flush through with clean water. Been doing this for thirty six years.

be very careful when using miltons. it can strip off the lining in the pipes and ruin the "food grade" properties of the pipe.

i always use puriclean which is aimed specifically at the leisure industry and for use with caravans.

i use milton once a year to flush all the system.fill up as normal amd leave for one hour and then flush with clean water.only leave it for one hour as stainless heater tanks do not like milton products.if you brew your own beer you can use the same stuff as you clean your pipes and jars.i then clean the barrels before we go away each time.do not forget your filler pipe.

Read Caravans, been down this road with Milton on this Forum last year.

Truma stated that milton was not a problem has long as you obeyed the instructions on the bottle, Truma also stated that leaving for 2 hours did not cause a problem with their products.

Swift also stated the same that Milton used correctly was O/K.

How does the product you recommend in price compare with Milton?

Just cleaned my tank and pipes with the halford stuff, it was completely painless and got rid of some clag in the pipes too.

A tip though, would be to pre-dilute the powder in a litre of warm water as it took a while in the cold tank.

Hi Carl

We also use milton to flush water system, but I always remove or change the filter afterwards as you can get a bit of a taste in the water for a while, & i think its recommended by Whale not to flush the filter.
