I bought our first caravan around 3 weeks ago and have just returned from a 2 week trip to the Lizard, Cornwall (we live in York, (self, wife and 2 daughters).

After hearing a lot of scare stories about travelling and towing a caravan I am pleased to report that we experienced no problems.

We had an overnight stop at the Gordano Services in Bristol on the way down and completed the journey in about 8 hours.

I was worried about manoevering onto the pitch for the first time when we arrived at the site but I completely fluked it first time!

Again no probs on the way home yesterday eve / this morn.

Had a brief 5 mins of embarrassment trying to reverse into a space in the HGV park at a less well equipt services yesterday eve much to the amusement of some HGV drivers.

Despite that we have had a fantastic time and are now converted caravaners.

Andrew, congratulations on a great holiday, and from your description, a worry and hassle free one.

As the song goes,"Things can only get better", and I hope this is true for you in future outings

Andrew, congratulations on your first holiday in your caravan. you will find that as the more experieinced you are, the easier it all becomes.(although there are times even with experience you still make a hash of it all)

we have been all over the UK, Ireland and France in our caravan over the past 10 years. even though we have had a really bad week caravan wise, it wouldnt put us off.

we were advised from our parents not ot bother getting another one and go on a 'proper' holiday (yes being stuck in an airport for hours on end like my sister is at the moment, how wonderful)

however, my youngest daughter has seen more of this country than my mum ever has, where as they go off once a year for 2 weeks at a time, we go off as many times as work allows.

Hope you have many more holidays

Bev
