Hi I was wondering if anyone out there tows a twin axle van with a Grandis ?.If so how heavy is your van and how does it tow ? at the moment I tow an Elddis Odyssey 505 MTPLM of 1500 and my Grandis has towed it very well with no problems but we are planning to change our van soon and quite like the extra space and fixed bunks as well as usable bathrooms in some of the twin axle vans.Any help and advise will be great

Cheers Rob

Hi, we tow a 20' Lunar Gemini TA with a Ford S-max which is very similar on paper to the Grandis. The lunar is very lightweight for it's size at only 1400kg mtplm, the physical size is no problem with passing trucks etc causing barely a flinch. We are considering an Abbey vogue at mtplm 1645kg and do not expect the extra weight to be an issue.

Hi, we're considering buying a Grandis to replace our 1.6 Zafira as we are about to buy our first caravan and need the extra pulling power. I've never seen a Grandis on the road which is part of it's appeal as the Zafira is now 2-a-penny. Are you happy with it? Any problems? Does it tow well?(we're both new to towing so want to get our choice of car right) Caravans we're looking at have MPTLM of about 1450kg-1500kg.

Your honest opinion would be very much appreciated.

Hi CLAIRE

As you say there are not many Grandis's out there ,no replies from Grandis owners to my question. They are great seven seats loads of features (depending on model) Mine even has built in DVD player roof mounted (kids love it) good fuel consumption tows a 1500k van very well (but if you are new to towing perhaps a lighter van would be something to think about) all in all go out and buy one and watch the heads turn as you go by

Rob,I have towed a twin axle(1750 mtplm) with the very same car as yours.I have to say that despite very careful loading I find the outfit unstable at motorway speeds and very underpowered. We like our van and are loathed to change it so we will probably look to buy a car better suited to the job, maybe a 4x4.The 2.0 ltr engine in such a heavey car just does not cope with the burden of a twin axle.

Hi

Hopefully I am not too late & you have not already purchased a 'Grandis' - Grand they are not. Whilst they may be an adequate tow car (depending on the van), please consider carefully the residual value, dependent on model & how long you are thinking of keeping the car. My friend purchased a new Grandis & has lost

Hi Rob, The Grandis is a poor choice new as its resale value is very poor, if your only towing an old Odysses you should be ok, but a good second hand 4wd is a far better choice, also for shunting around sites "unless you are one of those who can not to reverse and have a motormover" it sounds as you would be better off moving up to a motorhome, and turn a few heads !

hope this helps
