I was interested to read Mikey's post on this forum regarding servicing of his Hymer. My caravan has been serviced by a mobile engineer for a few years now and I have been extremely pleased with the service I have received. However, If I buy a new 'van will I have to use the dealer to service the van in the warranty period? The mobile eng. I use has all the qualifications and has been in the business many years. Mikey, you may want to give this guy a ring. He is Garry Tredwell (GT Services)01235 520240. He will work within 40 miles of home.(Abingdon). I know this because he serviced my caravan this morning! Best wishes, Butler

The only answer to your question is to contact the makers and see if it invalidates the warranty.

If they say it does then their word is final

Hello Graham, I dare say the manufacturers will insist on their dealers having the work. I just wonder if any manufacturer could offer a two year service interval, at least for a new van anyway. After all, they can do it for cars even if it is wise to have at least an oil change.
