Yes, it was impossible to get a mobile phone or wi-fi signal on Field 3 Stowford Farm Meadows when we were at the readers rally but the signal was ok in the bar :silly:

Hi LW,
Wireless reception is allways a hit or miss siuation but is very slowly getting better.
Of far more importance is is the matter of online security, or rather the lack of it, and if you have not made a study of this I implore you to do so.
As an example I refer you to the recent "Heartbleed" incident where a very widely used encription security system was found to be unsafe after years of usage!
Online security is in fact worsening with organised criminals developing ever more sophisticated methods of stealing your data and money.
I for one no longer do any banking online.
Rgds.

I was at Malvern Spring Festival for the whole week, they have free Wi-Fi, but to download a picture was like waiting for next week to arrive.
I use EE for my home provider and do use their mobile system. As long as you have a mobile phone signal I plug in a dongle with a prepaid sim card and up and away.

I've been using 3's mobile broadband for years and it's just gets better, at home I'm now seeing 15MB download speeds regularly!
Only been caught out once on site but that was the north york moors! however, the recent sell off of 4g frequencies will improve things as far as that's concerned. That is, the lower band of 800 or is it 850 being able to reach much further from the mast than the current 3g 2100 band, so soon reaching where hitherto it was impossible.

Only niggle I have isboth our phones are on Three's an 'all you can eat' contracts so come with mobile hotspot to connect the laptop and anything else too, including the smart TV. The theory being my dedicated laptop dongle would be redundant, however the hotspot feature eats the phone battery!! so annoying as it is, at £8 a month for 5gig on the dongle contract, it's staying for the time being 🙁

I always have my Mifi router with me which gives me 3G and up to five wifi devices.
I've unlocked it so I can use any SIM car which has the best deal
Currently using EE card(£12 for 6GB)
If the area has 4G, I can tether wifi devices to my mobile

Never found site wifi to be very good/fast

..........for use away from home in the UK I use a Talktalk smartphone at £5/month with 200mb of data +200 minutes calls +300 texts.
Due to the small screen on the smartphone I use it to create a wifi hotspot and connect with a tablet for use on the web.
In Europe it is very easy to find sites with free wifi and I stick to these as much as possible.
