Ok so i have got a mondeo 1800 petrol has anyone had any dealings with these cars as i have a swift challenger 440/4 max weight 1000kgs well within towing weights but the car seems so slugish is there anything i should be looking for (i have had the brakes etc checked on the van) the car is slugish both when towing and solo i had an old 1800 vectra and that would pull like a train compared to this help before i do something drastic like go back to a vauxhall eeeh

I had a 2001/Y 1800 petrol and the engine was definetely not sluggish. It wwas not the most powerful thing in the world but it pulled perfectly well (I believe there are two 1800 engine though, mine had 123 bhp but there is a 115bhp version as well).

hi there just read your question about the mondeo mk3 ive had every variant going from an 1800 to the 2.5V6 and even the mighty 3.0 ST220 i know tow with a 2.0 tdci and generaly the rear brakes are ok but you find on older cars that the handbrake cable does start to stick after a wile due to the outer protective cover coroding and letting moisture in and then grit and dirt . if your any good with your hands there quite easy to replace as they come in 3 peaces left and right rear wheel then handbrake handle to centre most good auto repair shops stock them and i payed
