Hi

I own a Mondeo hatchback and wondered if I should be changing my tyre pressures when towing my van which has a MTPLM of 1500 kgs. I have towed it three or four times now on trips of 40-50 miles with no issues but wondered if I was overlooking something ?

The ford handbook comes with all the recommendation for tyre pressures based on normal, and full loading plus even one for high speed [100mph] It also has all the different size wheels and tyres that it carries on each of its models, so this would be the best place to look for tyre pressures, and if towing a caravan then the full load pressures should really be used and on rear tyres these would always be higher than normal loading figurers....

You don't say what tyre equipment the car has got, but it's always worthwhile raising the rear tyre pressures to the maximum recommended for the fully laden condition when towing.

Hi Dave.
I always increased the pressures in the rear tyres on my Mondeo before towing.
There was a sticker on the pillar with the correct pressures for solo/towing which was visible when the drivers door was opened.
