Moto mover or awning?

Have just brought my first caravan new Venus 460!

Which one would be better

Moto mover or Awning?

Every body has different requirements. I'm going off caravanning tomorrow morning but without the motor mover I'd never get the caravan hitched on to the car - the van is parked too far away. As for the awning, I'm leaving that at home.

..........can't help with the choice but remember to consider that you will be loosing around 40kgs of your available payload if you fit a mover.

An awning won't move the van for you and a mover won't give you extra space . . . .

If you don't need a mover (I do unfortunately) there's little point in fitting one, whereas an awning will always give you that bit of extra space, and useful for sitting outside if the weather isn't that good.

Never done Caravanning before so don't know how easy they r to push or pull, only going for a 2 berth and the MTPLM is 1155kg. Would like to have the extra room as got 2 dogs, but if it's going to be hard to push maybe I need a mover grrrrrrrrrrrr I hate making decisions

A lot depends on the type of site's that you choose to stay at.....
Without our mover we wouldn't be able to get the van either in or out of the garden, so that made our mind up for us and i always use it to bring the van to the towball to couple up whether at home or on site ( saves a lot of hassle ) ... We also have dog's and the awning does make for that extra space for them to lie out in, and storing there box that's got all of there stuff in ..... decisions, decisions

A couple of days ago i was laid back in a chair in the awning both dog's were snoring so i joined them :lol:

Get yourself a decent porch awning, just in case you decide to get a bigger van ..... saves buying another awning .....

I don't think most owners ever push or pull their vans manually nowadays - apart from slight adjustments when pitching up; the grab handles on a modern van aren't really there to move the van any distance. Unless the van is parked in an inaccessible position hooking up normally involves reversing the car to the van. Reversing skills with the van attached are important, but not that difficult - with care.
I would have thought that caravanning with two dogs makes an awning essential - especially when it's raining . . . .

Decision made I am going to get both

As mentioned get a porch awning for short stays - they are much quicker to put up than a full awning, which in turn is better for main holidays.

Unless you have access problems at home or storage facility I would postpone the cost and weight of a mover until you have more experience

You don't have to get new Plenty of used awnings out there for good prices.

I've got both, they came with the van. Rarely use the awning (twice in 12 trips) as it's so much trouble to put up, have never used the mover as it's never been necessary.
