I too have a Crusader Storm and have a Powrtouch All Wheel drive.Works a treat. However, you will lose the spare wheel carrier although this can be replaced with an Alko carrier with a kit supplied by Powrtouch. Personally I decided to simply carry the spare in the van whilst towing.

I have very similar sized van Elddis Crusader Sirroco and had a Reich 4 wheel mover fitted by the Elddis dealer (they recommended Reich). We had to do this as we have a tight turn into drive and the road can get quite busy. So I find it easier to don hi vis-vest and stop traffic whilst "driving" van onto drive. Never had any problems with mover although the turning angle is never acute like you can get with a single axle.

Thank you for your advice. I have been told this morning by a caravan dealer that I could have a powrtouch 4 fitted to my caravan. My caravan when laden is 1900kg. I have a very slight slope on my drive. Its the turn that is tight and worries me. He says that I can upgrade later if I feel there isnt enough power. Does this sound right? Is the powrtouch powerful enough for my caravan weight? Thank you your comments they are very much appreciated. Niki

Dont bother unless it is 4 wheel drive on a twin, the 2 wheel drives wont turn corners and the motors will burn out after a while. I got a 4 wheel drive direct from powertouch for

Hello Niki,

You have a quite specific reason for wanting/needing a mover. this actually places you in a strong position as you must tell any potential supplier the detail of the job the mover must be able to do.

This is a very clear criteria, and the supplier must ensure that any product they recommend must be able to manoeuvre your caravan in the space and circumstances you have.

If you choose one of the recommended models, and have it fitted in accordance with the instructions, then you should be fine, But if for any reason the mover fails to meet the criteria you set, the dealer is responsible under the sale of goods act for not supplying goods fit for the specified purpose.

In reality, no one on this forum can make a certain recommendation as we cannot see the particular location and its difficulties. It makes more sense to go to the dealers and invite them to make recommendations.

I have the Powrtouch 4 or what is is now called the Powrtouch Twin on my Wyoming. Two motors not four.It does the job but being a twin does not turn as freely as a single axle.

However do think very carefully why you need a four motor drive.

You will have increased weight eating into your MTPLM.

You will have to resite your spare wheel carrier or lose it all together. Think about the revised weight distribution.

You will lose the Al-Ko jacking points. You will have to find an alternative method. Remember you cannot just jackup any old where on the chassis. This could caause you difficulties attaching your wheel locks etc.

Cheers

Hi Niki

I have a Senator Wyoming, just under 1700kgs. We mainly use the mover when we want to face in at a pitch eg a cliff top view etc; or just some final adjustments where space is tight.

If your drive is flat I don't think you will have a problem.

Have you discussed your requirements with Powtouch? They have a very good cust omer helpline.

Cheers

Alan

Hi Niki

I have a powrtouch (not the 4wd) fitted to my 2008 Buccaneer Caravel T/A MTPLM 1900KG & it works a treat. We only use it though to get the caravan down our slight incline drive into back garden & occasionally on sites if its a bit tight to manouvre with car.

Not done any real turning so cant really comment as to if the 2wd is up to that compared with awd one.

But we are really pleased with its ability & ease of operation for our use

Hi Simon B

Thanks for your reply.

Can I ask how you managed to get such a great discount. I mentioned to powrtouch how much a member paid for there motormover on a forum and ask if they could match this but they weren't interested.
