hi all,
I think the replies so far just about covers it!! the only ones who question the necessity or validity of having a mover are the ones who don't have one,
once you have one, no matter what the make or model or what you use it for, the answer is always the same "wouldn't be without it" that speaks volumes,
mines a old Truma SE bought second hand and fitted myself, works faultlessly every time, now the vans only a "little un" but when we brought it home from the dealers it took nearly an hour from the main road to getting it into the garage nose first, pushing, pulling, and turning round several corners, had it not been for the help of neighbours, we could not have done it,
one who has a T/A said you need a mover Mate, it will be twice as hard getting it out again, and he showed me his, I was hooked and bought one, before moving the van again, now it's in and out of the garage to and from the car in 10mins flat,

The reason for the development of the original main axle mover was that Mr Carver was getting on in years and found it increasingly difficult to man handle the caravan. He felt there must be an easier way. He investigate what was available which at the time were only jockey wheel replacements. He found these were less than ideal for the reasons expounded elsewhere.

He had several acquaintances who were hardened caravanners who dismissed the idea of assisted moving as being "whimpish" But ironically some of those who twenty years ago claimed they would never be seen using one are now eating their humble pie and are very thankful for them, since several of them have developed medical conditions. It is almost certain that at least four would have had to give up caravanning.

Ultimately, its a personal decision whether to get a mover or not, and it matters not a hoot what others may think about you for getting one.

If you want one - go for one.

I suspect there are other reasonable makes out there but why don't we hear much about them?? Maybe their aftersale service isn't so good?

Or maybe they are more reliable.

I have had mine for eight years, it's gone wrong once,( Broken rollers caused by gravel in tyre treads )My fault. I think that's very reliable
