Hi Carol,
The answer is very easy to say,,,,get a mover!!
However, it all depends on how much you intend lugging the van around, and how fit you are!!
Not having a mover means that unless you can position the van where you want it, on a pitch, in storage or at home by using te car, then a mover can be left for the time being.
If you are like many of us, trying to move a van, and even more so a twi axle off the car is a bit of a struggle to say the least, unless it is on level tarmac. Go onto gravel or grass and its a real struggle.
Using the car as the prime moving force is ok as long as you get it right and dont end up over revving the car to move the van, and slipping the clutch which will end up in premature clutch failure and a very expensive repair bill.
A mover does several things in its favour. First it stops you heaving and shoving and getting very hot and tired and grumpy to get it just where you want it.
Secondly it reduces the possible damage to your tow vehicle to nil, as you can drive the van on its own mover to where you want it, and on any surface, tarmac, grass, gravel, uphill, downhill.
Thirdly, you have millimetre precision when moving on the mover
and lastly it saves having to tug very hard on what are rather flimsy grab handles on caravans, which can be the start of damp getting in the van by disturbing the seal at the handle to body fixing.
We have a Powrtouch and it is by far the best bit of kit we have spent out on for the van, pricey,,yes it is,,worth it,,yes every penny.
