Unfortunately not ridden them on or off the road for a while but I have a Moto Guzzi Le mans MK1 (had it for 25 years) and a tatty Yamaha TY250 sidecar trials outfit - I used to green lane with it.

For the old car buffs I also have a Triumph Vitesse MK2 convertible.

I seem to have trouble parting with vehicles I am really fond of! and these will never depreciate.

Garry,

Triumph Vitesse MK2 convertible. That used to be my dream car didn't they have some problem with the front wheels collapsing inward or am I thinking of something else??. What year is the Vitesse late 60s ?

Yes I have a Kawasaki 550GT shaft drive 1983 with 16,800 miles on it, been off the road for 3 years but still in running order. I also have a Honda 750VFR just waiting for the winter weather to pass so looking forward to the Spring

I think you are right, there was a problem with the earlier Vitesses and Heralds to do with the suspension turning under the car - not come across it myself.

Mine is a 1970 car fitted with rotoflex suspension, I think that sorted the problem.

Honda Pan European the 1100 not the 1300, thought about changing but two of my friends have the 1300 but are not that pleased with them.

Recently sold a `mint` Yamaha XJ600 to get some garage space, now down to a much underused Kawasaki ZZR600, which may also go in the spring.

Honda VTR1000 Firestorm. 2003, very low milage and owned it from new. After years of chopping and changing bikes I have finally found my ideal bike. A great all-rounder, and you can't beat a big vee twin!

That is interesting - if you have any relevant info or interesting stories to do with the developement I am sure the TSSC - Triumph Sports Six Club would be interested.

I've said this on here before but have you noticed how many bikers and ex bikers are caravanners, I count my self in the ex category.

Any volunteers for going onto one of the bike forums and explaining this phenomena

Don't forget to take a gum shield

The problem was with the rear suspension which had a transverse leaf spring attached to the the top . Braking mid bend caused the weight to transfer to the front and the rear wheels to turn under. Result: exit one Herald/Vitesse/Spitfire through the hedge backwards. I remember one publication describing the rear suspension as not so much a problem more a music hall joke.

regards

Steve
