Motorway Services (Clacket Lane Dartford Bound)

Afternoon All,

I have to let off steam here...

Returning from 2 lovely weeks in the New Forrest with the family, 3 vans in total, 2 twinners, 1 single, we decided to stop off and let the kids have some munch and stretch there legs, little did we know until we arrived that the "Caravan Parking" at Clacket Lane serivces was a layby which could only fit 3 outfits in... AARRGGHH, the parking was atrocious. If it wasn't for the kind man in front moving up i would've never fitted my twinner into thge "Caravan Parking" space.. the other twinner and single had to park in the car park, which they then had to wait for the occupents of the vehicles to return so they leave the car park with the caravan in tact..

Stay well clear of these services or try your luck and park in the lorry car park. Do not trust signs that say "Caravan Parking".

We keep a caravanning notebook with all kinds of useful things jotted down, including good and bad motorway service areas we stop at around the country and we'll be including this as one to avoid.

Practical Caravan magazine ought to have a yearly vote in the magazine where us caravanners can nominate motorway service areas that we have found to be caravan friendly and those that are not.
