Moving home

We are currently selling our home & will be moving to Scotland. To make the process a little less stressful, when the sale in England goes through we are going to 'move' into our Touring Caravan. We therefore need to find some good sites in the Highlands where we can stay Nov, Dec and Jan. Also does anyone know the maximum length of time you can stop on one site. I know the Caravan Club is 21days. How long to you have to be off a site before you can pitch back on it.

CC rules say that you have to be away for the same number of nights that you stay. ie, stay 1 night away 1 night, stay max 21 nights away 21 nights.

You just need to find two or three local sites and rotate a couple of times. There are people that do this all the time around the London sites.

have a look on http://www.ukcampsites.co.uk/ and do a search for privately owned sites that are open all year. you will find that as long as you move off for 4 weeks per year you can stay for the rest ie; 48 weeks. we know loads of caravanners that do this one couple live in the van and go to spain for the 4 weeks that they have to be out of it.

We are doing the same.

Hi Sarah,

first of all congratulations on seeing sense and moving to a better part of the world!

Which part of the Highlands are you looking to move to?

Theres plenty of good sites both commercial and club owned sites up here, so finding one shouldn't be a problem,

Good luck with the move etc,

Gavin.

We are looking at somewhere on the West Coast, probably between Portree and Ullapool. It will depend on what is available, but a priority will be somewhere to fit the caravan as at the moment we have no room at home for it.
