Being a keen cook I really enjoyed the healthy eating recipes in august 06 magazine and thought the electric multicooker sounded like a great tip (page 82) The man at Comet gave me a blank look and tried to sell me a slow cooker! ebay came up with zilch when i searched for 'multicooker' Anyone got any idea who makes an electric multicooker? And does anyone use one? Are they worth buying?

Valerie,

By a multicooker do you mean something that looks like a big electric frying pan with a lid which is also a pizza oven. If so these are fantastic you can cook a whole meal in it, they can also be used as a slow cooker. If not then sorry for the confusion.

Mike,

I don't think so - the (Lakeland) Remoska from Eastern Europe and was designed as a low wattage, top heating oven. Basically a teflon coated aluminium pot with a 500 watt heater element in the teflon coated lid.

The Remoska will bake bread, roast meat and potatoes, and cook a pizza - and it definitely can't be used as a slow cooker - you only have two heat setting - ON and OFF.

We are now using our second Remoska and it's excellent - and since it's portable (cook outside) it doesn't heat the van up when you want a pizza or hot bread.

I think Valerie may be thinking of the American Palson Multicooker - which is a thermostatically controlled (deep) electric frying pan with a glass lid. Compared to the Remoska oven, the Palson is more suited for slow cooking or skillet cooking (frying and saut
