Pat and me have just got an essential piece of kit to
take in our van on weekend breaks and holidays, it will not be
cheep and you have to keep putting money in to the
maintanance of it, then there is the repair bills, insurance not
to menshion our time.

Well they do say a dog is not just for Christmas, yes we are
looking for a dog, sorry found one.

We have never had a dog just cats but alas our pussy had to
be put to sleep as she was so ill.

We now have Lucy, a rescue dog, never had a dog before so will
make loads of mistakes but will be a joy to take on holiday trips in the van.
Happy Christmas
Reg Pat and Lucy

It is always good to hear of rescue dogs being given a chance of a decent life after what they have endured.
My dogs are all rescue dogs, and they seem to go out of their way to please.
I am sure Lucy will have both of you trained in a matter of days.

Good luck with her and have some wonderful times with her

Hi Reg & Pat.
Congratulations on find your new best friend.
We wouldn't be witout our chocolate Lab, he is a great companion and friend and the best burglar alarm I've had. At £3-50 a week to feed on Wagg complete worker he is economical to.
Taking him to the vet's today to have his nails clipped. At 40 Kgs he is too frisky for me to clip on my own as he thinks it's a great game. Also as he has black toe nails, it is hard to spot the blood line. So for peace of mind for all it's worth a tenner.
As most of you know we are fulltiming and to be quite honest having the dog has excluded us from the private rental market. But for us it's their loss.
We have no intentions of parting with Ted he is far too loyal to us. He is so well behaved it took 8 weeks for the new site wardens to cotton on that we had a dog.
One tip. Get your dog used to being vaccumed, it cuts down on the hairs dropping. Our dog thinks it's his massage. We can't do the vaccuming without him getting a going over first.
We rescued a black lab that was the runt of a litter. One day I was in a rush to get changed from work and as I came through the house I whipped my belt out of my trousers. Prince shot under the table in a dithering wreck of a state. It was then I realised how the dog breeder had tamed his puppies! I'd like to take a belt to the breeder myself for being so cruel. So just take things steady for a while and let your dog settle in. She'll soon realise how much you love her.

Well done Reg and Pat.it is so good to hear that you have given a rescue dog a loving new home. There are so many needing a second chance. If we were looking in the future we would follow your excellent example. At the moment we have 2 Pomeranians "The Bears" Maddie 7years and Ruby 6 years. They travel all over with us and the van, even Europe.I am sure you will have lots of good times with Lucy too. Bless you all!!!

Blimey I did not expect so much encouragement for you all, we can't be leave our luck.
Lucy had her first check up at the vets and her booster jab and the vet said she is a good dog.
We had to both go to work this evening for 3 hours and we expected the worst but nothing, just a excited greeting
and waging her tail.
I had better go walkey's now.
Thanks Reg Pat and Lucy.

down to one at the moment but were up to three at one time!! charlie our cavy adopted us from friends when she was ten and we had a further 9 wonderful years with her. If we hadn't had the van we would not of been able to go away the last three years as with her dementure she could only cope at home and in the van. Our greyhound Gemma was a rescue dog who we had at three. She was the most gentle caring dog you could ever wish for!! when our daughter was born she showed her maternal instincts. Sadly she went quickly and peacefully at nine. We still have Lexi our silver toy poodle who was given to us by a friend when she was two and a half because she was giving up breeding. I have to say more than one since my wife died would probably be too much with a six year old little girl as well, but the poodle is ideal. Who knows she may get a little friend one day. One word of advice though is we had major health issues with the greyhound and were very glad we followed the vets advice and took out our insurance with pet plan. Over 18 months her vet bills were £6,000 and they never quibbled about anything. There are many insurances cheaper but I have heard people say they wish they had never changed to them.

Enjoy!!!!

Well & done Reg & Pat.

We have two muddy Springers so have modified the caravan a bit. The original carpets are in the loft. I found a real good offcut which we cut to size and don't worry if it gets dirty. Similarly I made up seat covers with a pretty fabric from a market. They are so good we cover them in turn with throw overs!

Always carry plenty of water and a bowl plus the poo bags of course. If you forget the water bowl you can temporarily fill a poo bag with water. Works well.
Enjoy Lucy, she'll enjoy you
