NEC reflections

So, who here went to last month's NEC Motorhome & Caravan Show? It's great to get to look around so many new and exciting vans and accessories, but does it sometimes get too much? To read Martin Roberts' blog on just this subject, please click here.

A visit to the NEC Caravan Exhibition can be a bit [strike]knac[/strike] tiring but if you are a serious buyer rather than a speculative tyre kicker it's best to prepare a list of likes and dislikes and to tick them off as you make your way round.
We bought a marvellous new caravan from the NEC in 2007 and obtained a very good discount from a reputable dealer. 🙂
We could have obtained an even better deal on an almost identical caravan which was a bit closer to home.
The closer to home caravan was exactly the same model, same layout and specification but for one thing. It had a green carpet and curtains and Herself wouldn't budge, she just isn't keen on green 🤢

I went again this year and there seemed to be more dealer specials than ever.
With so many almost identical vans on show choosing a new van must be a nightmare for any one looking to buy.

We went to the show on the CC day (Tuesday) and what with the CC and M6Toll discounts is was a cheap day out - until we clinched a deal on a new caravan!
Seriously though, like Parksy, I had spent hours on manufacturers websites and went armed with clipboard, lists and good walking shoes but it still took us six hours to settle on "the one" - a manufacturers special. Just have to wait for it to be built in January!

Mrs Keith and I had our first venture to the show on the Sunday, which turned out to be an expensive day. We didn't go the whole hog and buy a new van but did order a winter cover, new Kampa Air awning and brought some other bits home, including Duvalay sleeping bags.

To be honest, we were a bit overwhelmed by the sheer amount of stuff to look at ...... but chatting to various dealers gave us a different perspective on 'vans that we can potentially tow with the trusty Zafira and it was good to look at what's out there in terms of layouts and manufacturers, especially when we're limited on dealers where we are.

On the whole though, we had a great day out!! :cheer:
