Need some advice on a caravan called swift horizon (if there is one) have a friend going to look at one to night thats way i'm in a hurry for information, we know nothing about it told it was 1999 5 berth twin axle, looked through all caravan books no mention of a horizon. She just would like to have bit of advice as this is a private sell and its her first caravan.

Never heard of the Swift Horizon, myself. It may have had a short production run or be a dealer special and as such might not be in any books. The big advice is that your Friend takes someone with her that is familiar with caravans. Buying second hand privately can be a minefield, so she will need someone that is objective and informative.

Apart from the condition and ownership of the van (check both thoroughly) ask if there are any extras that come with the van, such as awning, aqua roll etc, the less it costs to equip the van the better.

Jennifer....Not heard of this model but it could have been a dealer special. Tell your friends to be very careful when they go to visit the van. Get a CRIS check done if they are seriously interested and ask to see all the documentation in respect to the vans purchase and history, including servicing. Ask for telephone numbers of the dealer who services it and generally ask questions that any genuine seller would not mind answering.

Also, if they decide to buy make sure everything works and if they are in the slightest of doubt just walk away. Remember, buying caravans is like cars, if you are a cash buyer there are plenty to look at.

One way of identifying the model is to get an insurance quote to see if the model is listed because insurers don't like insuring caravan models that cannot clearly be identified.

If it's a swift 1999 5 berth twin axle it might be a special based on a Conquerer which I've had 2 of and found them good solid vans. Don't know how they are at 8 years old never kept one that long.

If you think we are helpful on the forum, you should see us at the Easter Meet. They wouldn't allow Sparkes and co to wear capes, but it would have been fitting.

See you there?

Sorry for another unashamed advert for the above event.
