Hello Everyone,
We`re new to caravanning (touring anyway)-and we want advice as to the possibility of a lightweight Lshaped lounge 2 berth !
Don`t want anything before 2000 -and can`t pull anything over 1200kg all in.
What I really would like is other peoples views -as the dealers just tell you about the vans they have in stock!!
I`m prepared to wait for a really nice van as money is tight and would like to spend less than £5k-please don`t laugh!!!!!
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks -we`re so confused

Hi Cecilia Robo, welcome to the Practical Caravan forum.
No one is going to laugh, your budget seems quite adequate for a first caravan and a query in the General section or 'Buyers Guide: caravans' section should elicit some good suggestions about which caravans would fit your criteria.
There are many good used models on the market but unfortunately there are some not so good so before parting with your hard earned cash there are some points to watch out for to which will prevent you from being ripped off.

Click Here for a comprehensive used caravan buyers guide which will highlight the things to watch out for, good luck in your quest for a suitable caravan and if there is anything that you want to know about just ask

Hi. Welcome to the forum. Have you tried the caravan finder website. it gives a good idea of the market.

Hi Cecilia.
I've just traded in the ideal Van for you. It was a Bailey Ranger 460/2L 2003 Model. (A good spec van in my opinion)
I've swapped it for another Bailey Ranger 2 berth.
The max loaded weight for the van was well below the 1200KG that you mention. and everthing was working fine.
I'm not sure where you are located but we traded the van in to "Lowdhams Huddersfield"
I was towing with a ford focus 1800 Diesel TDdi 90 Bk horsepower. and we got along fine.
Perhaps you may be able to look at their website to see if it is still available.
It was a few weeks ago so it may have gone now. I believe Baileys only made this L shape model in 2003 so I don't think there are many around. But if this one is too far away or already sold at least you have one model to search for.
Finally when we traded the van in a small patch of damp was found on the front nearside roughly behind where the side light sits. we were quite upset because we didn't have a clue but the dealers have portable meters that they use to check. The company obviously ammended my trade in value but they said that the repair would be done in their workshops no problem they didn't seem to think it was too big a problem .
Welcome to the Forum and all the best in looking for a nice Van.
regards Brian

We know exactly who it is FG, the problem is being dealt with and there's no need to apologise because we know it's nothing to do with you
