Have just purchased one of these and not sure if it was a wise move, firstly you have to replace one of the studs with there Receiver wheel bolt's, this can be torqued with there adapter. It states on the box suitable for both alloy and steel wheels are there receiver blots suitable for replacing one of my studs on alloy wheels?
secondly, it seems after use it will scratch the paint/finish off
Has anyone used one and am guessing the wheel will have to be in the same postion to line up to fit.
Thinking off taking it back the only other type they had was the one I cut off last week so bought this in a rush really.
What do you others use, any recommendations, PLEASE.

I got one of these to replace my Alko Lock. I put a layer of foam on the face that touched the wheel. The problem I had was that I needed the longer reciever and the weight of this I felt affected the wheel balance and so went back to the Alko. Weigh a wheel bolt on your caravan and then weigh the Nemisis reciever.

Do you have an Al-Ko receiver plate? If so, I strongly recommend their wheel lock as it's easy to put on and take off on a single axle van (if you line it up with a motor mover). It is also relatively lightweight if watching your load.

Thanks for quick response, you have made my mind up, good point about the balance.

Think this will be the only satisfactory outcome. Cheers WC

Caravan Club insurance gives a discount if you use the Alko. It's more fiddly but I believe more secure.

Thats the word i didnt want to hear "Fiddly". :(

I have always used the clamp on type which obviously doesn't require this fiddly operation.
I also rarely use the mover, just reverse on to pitch so will have to use it if I go the Alko route :(

Any way is this the aperture it fits into, take yellow cap off and assume you line this up dead centre to the hole in the wheel.

Do you replace the cap whilst travelling to stop ingress of dirt etc?

Hi Kev

Once you have the threaded receiver there is another option other than the Alko wheel lock we use a purpleline which has a threaded locking piece that will fit into the Alko receiver and although you need to line up like the ALko, it is easier to fit in my opinion and a lot less expensive. Hope this was not the one you had to cut off. It is called Excalibur and you can see a video online of the installation although oyu only need to use the locking part not the whole kit.

Hi Woodsieboy, this is the one I had to cut off

The problem I have now is finding the correct one as the wheel style on the alko site does not match the wheel I have, there site is only showing my van up to 2009 and mine is 2010 so they must have changed the wheels when Adria made my particular one (After buying Fleetwood out ), ah life's a challange.

Think the nemesis is also made by purpleline, will look at the exalibur, cheers

Hi Kev
The Excalibur is not wheel specific and is designed for alloy wheels, I have been using mine for nearly 4 years on our Coachman, the complete kit comes with a bar that wraps around the wheel and is designed for caravans without the Alko receiver once you have the receiver you can either use the Excalibur wrap around that effectively gives a receiver or just use the Alko receiver. If you search purpleline caravan wheel locks in a search engine there is a video that makes it much clearer than me trying to explain it, cost of mine was about £75

If you have the Alko reciever Kev, then I have found this 'better' than the Alko lock, (It was that good that Alko got production of them stopped!) The advantage is that you can use them on any wheel, and this is the 3rd.. van I have used mine on, and just as secure as the Alko.
Problem is now you have to buy 2nd. hand, but they are excellent.

One here Kev.

(And no, Idon't know why anyone is selling it!)

Thanks Sir Gab that would be ideal as would the one Woodsieboy put on here (Excaliber), problem is they are both collection only and one is in Wolverhampton and the other one in Preston :( Bit far from Devon!

I use the nemesis as it covers more of the bolts and is easier to fit than the alko ones and it is Thatcham approved.
Don't get me wrong that alko locks are good but trying to get it in line if touch need to level the van on that side it's a real bind.

As we now have a twin axle van, I didn't like the ideal of jacking the van up to put 2x alko locks on so we bought 1 alko lock and a nemisis, the nemisis has a foam backing on it to protect from the wheel and I find it works very well and as it is thatcham approved its a good security device, as we don't get the alko discount as we only have 1 I often only fit the Thatcham whilst on site for a w/e
