new caravaner.advise to a newbie please..

hi

i have just bought a caravan, going to collect it on saturday.its a 80s abbey piper.i think its about 18ft overall length.will check once i have it home.

there were a couple ofthing i could do with somehelp.

i am looking for a second hand awning.will most awning fit as long as they are not to long.

i also want to fit a carver 2 water heater.are these quite stright forward to fit.

any advise would be a great help.

Hi s. Welcome to caravanning. No most awnings won't fit. You need to measure the van. The best way is to run a bit of string from the ground at the front up through the awning channel along the rail and down to the ground the other side. The length of this will give your awning size. Mostly folks seem to quote sizes in metric not imperial. If you just want a porch awning then it is less crucial but the maximum length of "straight" awning rail could be important.

Can't help you with the water heater, no technical knowledge I'm afraid.

enjoy your first outing
