New Chevy Captiva

Has anyone had experience of the New Chevrolet Captiva. There seems plenty about the old one but not the new one. I fancy a change from my Volvo V70 which has been great as a solo car and also as a towcar. I was dubious about its 2.0D engine but it has been very good giving 25-28mpg towing and solo, 40-45. it just seems to get better.
As i don't cover as many miles as i used to i thought i would give towing my priority and go for a 4x4. I have tried the Hyundi santa fe but there is no legroom for my 6.2ft frame with Arthritis. I tried the Captiva and it was as cumfy as my V70 but on returning to the dealership, i noticed the salesmans trip computer said 26mpg. The brochure says 42.8, It was his car and lived about 30mls away and was a keen driver.
If anyone out there has any real world figures for this car i would be grateful.

I thought the new Captiva had a 2.2 diesel engine now? That would be better from a power to weight ratio view point.

from what i can find on the web the engine in the Captive is the same basic engine as the Santa Fe and Sorento. What are you getting with your Kia?

The new Captiva is a 2.2, I don't know anything about this engine other than it's supposed to be a vast improvement on the older 2.0, I joined the forum some ime back as the Captiva is on my short list when I cange in a couple of years time. The forum members did state the 2.0 diesel was a lot heavier on fuel than the claimed figures, I don't think you can really compare against the new Sorento or Santa fe as the gearing and dimanics are probably completely different.

I think it probably has more in comon to the unit fitted to the Vauxhall Anterra rather than these two.

The Captiva although from an American company, is made in Korea, as is the Vauxhall Antara (both GM companies). So the notion that the engines could be from the same stable as the Kia and Hyundai is quite sound?

I have only towed a couple of times, but I think it was 28 mpg, solo I get 28mpg urban and as good as 45mpg on a run. If it is the same engine it is a good one, powerful and quiet.

The Captiva 2.2 diesel is a different engine to the Kia/Hyundai, The Captiva's 2.2 is 2231cc where as the Hyundai Kia 2.2 is 2199 cc, so they are different engines.

I have seen this on Chevy owners web site and it's said that it's the same Toyota unit in diferent state of tune hence my question about MPG.
